What Is CO₂ Treatment?
CO₂ laser resurfacing uses an ablative laser at a 10,600nm wavelength to deliver controlled energy into the skin. It creates microscopic treatment zones that trigger your skin's natural healing process, stimulating fresh collagen and smoother, renewed skin as it recovers.

Kymberley is a Registered Nurse and the founder of Epicell, with over 20 years of experience across skin, dermal therapies and aesthetic medicine.
With postgraduate education in dermatology, dermal science and dermoscopy, her approach is simple: understand the skin first, then treat with purpose. Where indicated, dermoscopic assessment forms part of her clinical approach before treatment or referral for further medical review.

Penny is a qualified Dermal Clinician with a Bachelor of Dermal Science and six years of experience across respected dermatology and skin clinics.
Her own experience with challenging skin inspired her career and gives her a genuine understanding of the impact skin conditions can have. Penny has a particular interest in acne, inflammatory skin conditions and restoring long term skin health.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is CoolPeel® a CO₂ laser?
Yes. CoolPeel® uses the same CO₂ laser, but with very short pulses that work on the upper layers of the skin and limit heat to surrounding tissue. For suitable patients, that means lighter resurfacing with generally less downtime.
How do I know which treatment I need?
That is decided at your consultation. We assess your skin, scarring and pigmentation, review your medical history, medications and previous treatments, and weigh up your goals against how much downtime suits you.
Is CO₂ right for everyone?
No. Skin type, certain medical conditions and medications, active skin issues, pigmentation risk and a history of scarring can all affect suitability.
Sometimes the better choice is to prepare the skin first, choose a different treatment, or not perform CO₂ at all. This is one of the reasons consultation is so important.
Is a stronger treatment always better?
No. More aggressive does not automatically mean more appropriate. The right level depends on your skin type, pigmentation risk, goals and recovery tolerance, and the Tetra PRO can be set anywhere along the spectrum.
What downtime should I expect?
After CoolPeel®, you may notice redness, warmth, dryness and a rough, sandpaper like texture as the skin recovers.
Deeper DOT treatments bring a more noticeable recovery, which can include swelling, sensitivity, crusting or peeling, and some redness may remain after the initial healing period. We go through this with you before treatment.
How long does a CoolPeel® treatment take?
The CoolPeel® treatment itself takes around 10 minutes. Your appointment time will also allow for skin preparation and aftercare advice.

Epicell is a nurse led clinic. Our team includes qualified nurses and dermal clinicians with backgrounds across nursing, dermatology, dermal science and dermoscopy, with medical support or referral used when clinically required.
